The first branch library in Boulder was the George Reynolds Branch Library, opening in 1968 and dedicated in 1969 after University of Colorado English Literature professor, Dr. Reynolds who was also a well-respected Shakespearean and Biblical scholar. In 1993, the branch underwent an expansion designed by architect Peter Heinz to feature an expanded children’s area, a centralized circulation desk, an interior flagstone courtyard and a reading room. Approximately 150,000 items are circulated annually from this branch. Hours of operation are Tuesday-Thursday 10am-9pm, Friday-Saturday 10am-6pm and Sunday 1pm-5pm.
